Investigators now believe illegal fireworks may have sparked the Summit Fire that has burned nearly 2,700 acres near Llano in northern Los Angeles County.
Fire officials say illegal fireworks are the suspected cause, though the investigation remains ongoing. The fire destroyed two structures, damaged several others, forced evacuations and prompted a massive response from more than 1,000 firefighters battling steep terrain and dangerous heat.
The good news: firefighters have now reached 64% containment. Even so, crews continue working to extinguish hot spots while some evacuation warnings remain in effect as Southern California endures another round of extreme fire weather.
