The California Post is reporting that the woman Gavin Newsom admitted to having an affair with–Ruby Rippey-Gibney, who was the wife of his pal–is going to pen an article that will appear in Vanity Fair. In 2007 when he was mayor of SF, Newsom said, ““I want to make it clear that everything you’ve heard and read is true, and I am deeply sorry about that.” If this report proves true, that statement could be more prophetic than apologetic. The Post did not report about the content of the article, so it is possible that it will be supportive of Newsom.
Not insignificantly, at the time, Newsom invoked his use of alcohol, and his resulting intention to stop drinking–which he has not. Read more here.
