By Jeff Vaughn A Sacramento postal worker faces federal charges, accused of withholding more than a thousand pieces of political campaign mail ahead of Election Day.
Prosecutors say 35-year-old Antoine Rashad Polite delayed or obstructed deliveries between September 23rd and October 27th.
Investigators found campaign mail in containers for undeliverable mail and inside his postal vehicle. Many addresses were crossed out or marked vacant—even though officials say they were valid.
The materials concerned candidates and ballot propositions. Postal officials say the vast majority were recovered and delivered.
