Newsom Commutes 548 Death Row Sentences

By Drew Hayes

548 death row inmates would probably endorse Gavin Newsom for President. This includes murderers who get a new lease on life, courtesy of the man who pretends to protect democracy–paid for by you the taxpayers. That’s $127,800 per year to house a single inmate.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has commuted the death sentences of all 548 inmates on the state’s death row to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In an open letter, to ‘All Californians,’ Newsom stated that “state-sanctioned killing is incompatible with California’s values”. In his letter he acknowledges that you voted FOR the death penalty–THREE TIMES–and you’ll be glad to know he “respects” that. Of course, a King does what he wants, so Newsom is ignoring not merely the will, but  the vote of the people. Isn’t that a threat to democracy?

CBS News reports: “Voters rejected Proposition 34, which would have abolished capital punishment, in 2012. Four years later, they again rejected repeal with Proposition 62 while narrowly approving Proposition 66, which sought to speed up death penalty cases.”  You voted in duly conducted, constitutional elections, but no constitution can stand in the way of a King.

You voted for the death penalty, but King Gavin says NO. You can read the letter below.
