It’s an exhaustive statewide road-trip to get out the vote for Prop 39, to make sure that elections are fair and trustworthy. Here are the details from Reform California:
The YES on Prop 39 for Voter ID campaign will kick off a statewide bus tour on Tuesday, September 29, that will take it on a 35-day trek with 71 rallies being held across California.
CA State Assemblyman Carl DeMaio – who authored Prop 39 and is Chairman of Reform California – will headline each event and will be joined by local elected officials and civic leaders for each event as they make the case for Prop 39’s bipartisan and balanced approach to implementing Voter ID to restore trust and confidence in democracy.
The tour begins just days before California counties are required to begin mailing vote-by-mail ballots on October 5 and will continue through November 2, the day before Election Day. DeMaio will travel the state in a big yellow “Yes on Prop 39” bus and will be joined by candidates and civic leaders at each stop.
“Over the next 35 days of 71 events, we are looking forward to making our case for Prop 39’s bipartisan solution to Voter ID in every single part of California,” DeMaio said.
DeMaio and the Prop 39 campaign say the tour will focus on explaining the measure to voters, distributing Reform California’s “Plain English” Voter Guides, training canvassers and volunteers, and presenting the campaign’s argument that Prop 39 implements a bipartisan and balanced solution for Voter ID while preserving mail balloting and keeping voting simple.

ABOUT PROPOSITION 39:
Proposition 39 is a bipartisan solution for Voter ID that strengthens trust and confidence in California elections while keeping voting simple and preserving vote-by-mail. The measure would require government-issued identification for in-person voting and the last four digits of a designated government-issued identification number for mail ballots. The measure would also require the state to provide voter identification cards on request and add citizenship-verification requirements for election officials.
Prop 39 is not the same as the proposal being sought by President Donald Trump – and it was put on the ballot by a citizens’ initiative with almost half of the signatures coming from Democratic and Independent voters.
