California Exodus Watch: Solidion Technology
Another corporate headquarters is leaving California — and this one is going to Texas.
Solidion Technology, a publicly traded advanced-battery company, has established its new corporate headquarters in downtown Dallas.
The company’s SEC filings now list 1900 North Pearl Street in Dallas as its principal executive office. Solidion develops next-generation battery materials and energy-storage technology, with its research and manufacturing operations based in Dayton, Ohio.
The company leaves up to 13.3 percent individual taxes for employees and 8.8 percent corporate taxes of California for no tax Texas. Add in lower regulation and lower cost-of-living and it’s a no brainer.
The Dallas Business Journal describes the move as another California-based technology company establishing its home base in North Texas.
And it fits a larger pattern. CBRE says Dallas-Fort Worth has attracted more than 100 headquarters relocations since 2018 — more than any other U.S. metro — while Los Angeles and the Bay Area continue to record net headquarters losses. CBRE points to taxes, regulation and cost-of-living pressures among the factors driving California departures.
California loses another headquarters.
Texas adds another one.
