Riverside County prosecutors say Menifee City Council candidate “Randy” Madrid lied about his residency so he could qualify for the November ballot.
Prosecutors say Madrid did not live in Menifee — despite claiming he did on his voter registration and candidate paperwork. Madrid denies wrongdoing.
The 73-year-old is charged with four felonies, including two counts of perjury, false voter registration and filing a false declaration of candidacy.
Madrid surrendered September 10th and was released after posting $30,000 bail.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters says criminal charges alone do not remove a qualified candidate from the ballot. Madrid remains listed as a qualified District 4 candidate
