Los Angeles has big-city problems. Mayor Karen Bass has a one-mile bike lane.
America’s second-largest city has more than 23,000 lane miles of roadway — and this gets a mayoral groundbreaking.
Bass spent September 11th breaking ground on a protected bike lane project in Chinatown. The Spring/Alameda Safety and Mobility Project spans just 1.2 miles.
Not exactly a mega-project.
But when you’re running for reelection and looking for accomplishments to highlight, apparently 1.2 miles of bike lanes gets a mayoral groundbreaking.
At least the potholes along that one mile will be filled.
