LAUSD Gives Unions More Of Your Money-Strike Averted

Update: Strike averted, tentative deals struck with UTLA, SEIU. It’s going to cost you more. NBC4 Reports:

SEIU announced the following details about the tentative agreement. 

  • 24% wage increase
  • Increased work hours that will ensure health care benefits for thousands of workers and their families and increase services and support for students.
  • Rescinding layoffs of hundreds of IT technicians.
  • Expansion of health care benefits for teacher assistants, after-school workers, community representatives and others.
  • No subcontracting of work to outside vendors with a pathway to bring more work into the district.

KTLA reporting a tentative deal between LAUSD and the all mighty teacher’s union. A two-year deal with an 11.65% increase in pay (any chance it is tied to actually improving the kid’s ability to read, write and do math?), and a $77k starting salary.
