New Poll: Hilton Increases Lead. Becerra Moving Up.

By Drew Hayes

Poll from EMC research–taken before the Tuesday debate–has Hilton and Becerra at 19%, then Bianco and Steyer at 14%. It surveyed 1,000 likely voters and had an additional 200 Latino responses.  Undecided  was 14% ahead of Porter 8% and Mahan 7%. Seems the poll was pretty Democrat leaning.  Read the whole poll here and decide for yourself.

ChatGPT says this when asked about the ‘political lean’ of EMC Research:

Political alignment
Works primarily with Democratic candidates, campaigns, and progressive causes.
Frequently conducts polling for: Democratic political campaigns, Labor unions, Advocacy groups aligned with the left

Often cited in Democratic strategy and messaging efforts, especially in California and national issue campaigns

The devil is in the details, as the disclosure sits at the bottom of the release and states:
EMC Research conducted a survey of likely June 2026 primary voters in California, including a proportional sample
of 1,000 likely voters and an additional oversample of 200 Latino voters. Final results are weighted, including
weighting down the proportion of Latino voters to known demographics of the likely voter population. Interviews
were collected via text-to-web and email-to-web methodologies from April 21-26, 2026. The survey was offered in
English and Spanish, and has an overall margin of error ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% level of confidence.
