McDonald’s is weighing in on LA County’s newest tax increase, and the golden arches aren’t exactly happy.

McDonald’s West Coast Instagram — a franchise owner with the Marraquin McDonald’s organization — posted this about the new sales tax:
“This is a shame for our hardworking citizens. We know exactly how we got here. The question is, do you?”

The increase took effect on October 1st after LA County voters approved Measure ER. It adds another half-percent sales tax, pushing the baseline rate across much of LA County to 10.25%. West Hollywood is now at 11%. Santa Monica is at 11.75%.

The county says the tax will generate $1 billion a year to support health care — that includes illegal immigrants. But for consumers it means another increase at the register.
