California Governor Gavin Newsom is taking his political show on the road — and it looks increasingly like the opening act of a 2028 presidential campaign. Newsom is heading to Nevada for a three-day swing, officially to campaign for Democrats ahead of the midterms and raise money for Aaron Ford’s run for Nevada governor.
But the trip also comes as Newsom says he and his wife are under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department. California GOP Chairwoman Corrin Rankin says, “Every mile he puts between himself and California is another attempt to outrun his record and distract from investigations.”
Nevada is a critical swing state and a frequent stop for White House hopefuls, making the visit another sign that the political conversation is already turning toward 2028.
