So Far LA’s “Sky Castle” Has No Opposition

By Jeff Vaughn

The old Los Angeles World Trade Center is getting a $200 million makeover.

The 10-story office complex at 350 South Figueroa Street will be converted into 512 affordable apartments as part of a partnership between Jamison and Kennedy Wilson to create 4,000 affordable housing units across Los Angeles over the next five years. The project, renamed Sky Castle, will feature studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with a fitness center, co-working space, resident lounge, and rooftop tennis courts that could be converted to pickleball courts.

The project is also benefiting from Los Angeles’ streamlined adaptive reuse rules, which speed the conversion of older office buildings into housing. Phase One is scheduled to begin in August 2026 with 241 apartments for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the Area Median Income. Phase Two will add another 271 units, with the entire development expected to be completed in early 2028.

One-bedroom rents are expected to start at $937 per month, while some two- and three-bedroom units will rent for approximately $1,100 to $1,300. So far, the project has moved forward without the neighborhood opposition or lawsuits that often delay major housing developments in Los Angeles.
