That thing that Democrats say never happens – just happened.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill says nearly 6,600 non-citizens were “mistakenly” registered to vote after what she describes as a software error. Sherrill says the DMV automatically registered them when they checked the box indicating they were not citizens.

It’s being reported that 400 of those non-citizens cast ballots.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon is now demanding New Jersey open up the state’s voter registration data to the DOJ – but that is never going to happen unless the Supreme Court gets involved.

Governor Sherrill says the state is not in the practice of releasing voter data due to what she calls “privacy concerns.” Yeah, right.

Here’s what will happen: Somebody told Sherrill to get ahead of the accusations. The DHS says there’s a lot more fraud in New Jersey, but the governor will claim victory with this “uncovered glitch.”

Sherrill will say that she exposed voter fraud.

She’ll campaign on being tough on illegal voting and voter fraud, and Democrats will use her as an example of the party taking voter fraud seriously. And that is where it will end – even though we know this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Democrats will now say we don’t need voter ID because we’ve already fixed the problem. The Democrats picked a newly elected governor in Sherrill to go first, so governors with real voter fraud problems – like Gavin Newsom in California – can say it’s been uncovered and fixed. End of story.

As for the non-citizens who voted, they should be prosecuted for voter fraud and deported.
