New CBS News polling is out ahead of Tuesday’s CBS gubernatorial debate at Pomona College. Among likely primary voters, Hilton still on top at 16%, followed by $teyer at 15%, then biggest winner in the Swalwell failure sweepstakes Becerra at 13%, with Bianco at 10%. The also-rans: Porter 9%, Mahan 4%, Villaraigosa 4% and Thurmond 1%.
The poll asked a slew of questions about how the electorate feels–all of which had predictable results based along party lines. You have to wonder though about the question on condition of the California economy–where among likelies, 59% of Democrats feel the economy in California is good, only 39% said bad. And 71% of the Democrats in the poll want a governor just like Newsom. For perspective, only 27% of Independents want the new Guv to be like Gavin.
